Toshiba Electronics Europe LTD has unveiled three load switches. These new devices are mainly for wearable and Internet of Things applications and will control the power supply of peripherals including sensors. They are also useful in upgrading designs for current generated around discrete semiconductors. It can also significantly reduce the static current.
The new TCK12xBG family of devices provides a new driver circuit developed by the company to achieve a typical on-state static current (IQ) of only 0.08nA. This means a 99.9 percent decrease compared to the current product TCK107AG. This has greatly extended the working life of wearables and iot devices powered by small batteries.
The supply (VIN) and control (VCT) voltages of the device range from -0.3V to 6.0V. Output current (IOUT) is rated for continuous 1.0A and 2.0A for pulse operation. The series has three devices: the TCK127BG provides automatic discharge when the activity is high; TCK126BG does not automatically discharge when started; TCK128BG is at an effective low.
All of the new devices are in the recently developed WCSP4G package, which takes up just 0.645mm x 0.645mm of board area and is 0.465mm high, greatly saving space for compact wearables and iot designs. Innovative back coating reduces the possibility of damaging equipment during installation.
