Microchip's RN4677 dual-mode Bluetooth module is designed to easily add Bluetooth low energy to the design of control and sensor applications. The RN4677 retains support for legacy devices that only support Bluetooth Classic, and combines Bluetooth Classic (2.1 + EDR) operation with Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy. This module includes an easy-to-use ASCII command interface, which is used in Microchip's popular RN41 / RN42 Bluetooth classic module. The RN4677 supports SPP Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy serial data. RN4677 is a Bluetooth version 4.0 (BR / EDR / LE) module certified by Bluetooth SIG. It provides local connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT) and bridges with smartphones and tablets to facilitate data transfer, control and access to cloud applications. The module includes a compact surface mount package 12x22x1.9mm on-board Bluetooth stack, integrated antenna and global radio certification. It supports GAP, SDP, SPP and GATT profiles. Data is sent / received via the UART interface, and data can be transmitted over the Bluetooth link, making it easy to integrate with any processor or microcontroller with a UART interface. Also Available-The Microchip RN4677 PICtail / PICtail Plus Daughter Board is a Bluetooth dual mode demo board using the Microchip RN4677 Bluetooth dual mode OEM module. The RN4677 complies with the Bluetooth Core Specification 4.0 and interfaces with a simple command interface through UART. This evaluation board is capable of evaluating the RN4677 in two different ways and developing Bluetooth low energy applications, whether out of the box or PICtail / PICtail Plus.
