The Renesas Quick-Connect IoT system includes standardized circuit boards and interfaces that enable designers to quickly and easily Connect a variety of sensors to an MCU development board. Renesas Electronics has launched an innovative new iot system design platform that greatly simplifies the prototyping of iot systems. The new system also provides core software building blocks that can be portable between boards, greatly reducing coding requirements.

Renesas Electronics has standardized the company's new Pmod 6A connector for use in the new sensor Pmod and MCU development suite. As part of this system, the company, in collaboration with Digilent, Inc., conceived a new extended I2C Pmod interface, type 6A, to achieve wider coverage and additional flexibility. This standardization provides designers with unparalleled flexibility in choosing the best combination for any iot prototype design. The MCU board will have two Pmod connectors, one for the sensor Pmod and one for the communication module. Pmods can also be cascaded for greater flexibility.

DK Singh, Senior Director, Renesas Systems and Solutions Team, said, "We are focused on providing solutions that enable customers to get to market faster with better end products. "For example, we have developed hundreds of winning combinations that provide our clients with an elevated design platform to reduce design risk and reduce development time. Fast Connectivity to the Internet of Things is the latest example of our commitment in this area and we will expand its coverage to support more boards and devices in the future. In addition, with a standardized hardware connectivity platform, customers can use compatible Pmods developed by third parties and other vendors."

Talesa Bleything, Digilent's Marketing director, said:"The new Pmod interface Type 6A embodies our vision to make system prototyping easier and easier to implement,"  "It meets the I2C specification and features optional interrupt and reset pins, as well as optional control signals, giving users more flexibility to adapt to different types of system development."

Chris Alexandre, Senior vice President of Renesas' Sales and digital Marketing, Iot and Infrastructure business unit said:"Our iot customers need more than just great MCUS, sensors and software,"  "Fast Connectivity is a game changer that extends our leadership in the iot market."
