Osram Optoelectronics' family of miniature side leds offers an alternative side LED for space-expensive applications. These products are now available from Rutronik. The diode combines high brightness with low power consumption and is offered in three different heights (0.6mm, 0.8mm and 1mm).
They also offer longer product life thanks to silicone packaging. Models 3806 RGB and 3806 White extend the Sidered series. The 3806 RGB version can control three different colors in an ultra-flat housing. The white 3806 also glows from the side and is 14% brighter than its predecessor, making it an attractive value proposition.
Due to low forward voltage and high efficiency, the range requires less energy to provide high brightness. This allows them to be optimally coupled to the optical waveguide.
These side-view models have a beam Angle of 120 degrees (Lambert spotlight) and an output light of 180lm/W. In addition, they offer high ESD resistance voltage (2kV according to ANSI/ESDA/JEDEC JS-001 (HBM)), and an additional ESD protection diode can be integrated directly into the enclosure if required.
These side-viewers are ideal for small-size integrated LED applications such as signal and symbol lamps, ring backlights, home appliances, consumer electronics and game consoles or backlights for monitors and keyboards.
