Texas Instruments' new LMR14020 is a 40V, 2A buck regulator with integrated high-end MOSFETs. The device has a wide input range of 4V to 40V, suitable for various applications from industrial to automotive, and can be used for unregulated power supply regulation. In sleep mode, the quiescent current of the regulator is 40µA, so it is suitable for battery-powered systems. The current in shutdown mode is extremely low, only 1 µA, which further extends battery life. The wide adjustable switching frequency range optimizes efficiency or external component size. Internal loop compensation means that the user does not need tedious loop compensation design tasks. This also minimizes the external components of the device. The precise enable input simplifies regulator control and system power sequencing. The device also has built-in protection features such as cycle-by-cycle current limit, thermal sensing and shutdown due to excessive power consumption, and output overvoltage protection.
