The new LIN BLDC motor pre-driver, released by Melexis, combines small size, high performance and power capability for automotive mechatronics applications. MLX81340 (32KB flash) and MLX81344 (64KB flash) control external NFET with capacitance up to 60nC to handle applications up to 500W. It also integrates three high - and low-end drive channels.

The 3rd generation of single-chip LIN motor drivers integrate LIN communication interfaces, high - and low-side drives, and protection mechanisms for external power FETs. The device is available in pin compatible 4mm × 4mm QFN24 and 5mm × 5mm QFN32 packages for especially small PCBS.

"Our LIN series of drivers can implement customized solutions for customers from 10W to 1000W applications. They take advantage of single-chip integration, saving space, simplifying design, and improving reliability." "By offering the best combination of price and performance across a wide range of applications, our innovation drive enables customers to create feature-rich and competitive mechatronics solutions."

These ics use the company's high voltage SOI technology. They combine analog and digital circuits with driver stages that include high-side and low-side drivers, charge pumps, voltage monitoring and current sensing to protect the external FETs. These devices have been manufactured as ASIL-B SEooC in accordance with ISO26262, which allows for appropriate safety diagnostics and safe operations for challenging applications. These ics include LIN controllers and physical layers, diagnostics, PWM generators, and watchdogs to provide smooth and silent FOC for BLDC motors.

These examples benefit from its experience in sensorless motor drive (Trusense) or FOC for efficient and low noise operation. Support for developers using these devices includes a complete LIN software communication stack and application code samples to enable users to quickly start evaluating their mechatronics prototypes.

The IC complies with the AEC-Q100 standard and is specified in the operating temperature range of -40C to 150C.
