Teledyne FLIR has introduced two new additions to its VS290 thermoscope suite -- the VS290-33 Thermoscope MSX suite and the VS29-21 thermoscope Suite. The VS290-33 offers a circular, dual-thermal visible probe for additional flexibility during underground utility vault inspections and other high pressure scenarios requiring CAT IV rating. The VS290-21 provides building and maintenance professionals with thermal-only architectural, mechanical, and electrical inspection capabilities ranging from crawl Spaces to hard-to-reach areas such as internal motors.

Along with the new VS290 scope kit, Teledyne FLIR offers probe accessories as current VS290 customers who already own the VS290 kit with the original VSC-IR32 probe rectangular tip fittings.

The circular VSC-IR33 dual thermal visible probe is only 19 mm in diameter, which means it can adapt to narrow Spaces and holes without sacrificing the ability to see sideways. The detector is equipped with a 160 x 120 thermal imaging camera and a 2 megapixel visible light camera, as well as a bright LED work light to provide MSX images in dark and bright Spaces. Its proprietary MSX(Multispectral Dynamic Imaging) on-camera software takes important details from visible images and imprints them on thermal images, providing perspective and critical context clues to help users accurately and safely assess potential problems.

The VSC-IR21 detector offers the same accurate 160 x 120 resolution as the VSC-IR32/33, but it is a front-facing camera designed to help users see inside walls, inside machines, and other tight Spaces. Thermal packaging of similar specifications is also available, which is thin enough to enter hard-to-reach Spaces and spot potential problems faster than ever before.

The software allows operators to record and share problems and includes before and after images to prove that the problem has been resolved. The Suite is compatible with FLIR Thermal Studio Suite software for rapid report generation as well as post-processing and analysis. In total, users can capture up to 80,000 radiant JPEG images via onboard 16GB internal storage and then upload them to a PC via a USB-C cable.
